Observation

This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was fair.  In part (a) candidates correctly named injuries that can be sustained in a sporting activity.  However, few candidates wrote out of context by mentioning kyphosis, tuberculosis, diabetes, malaria, flat foot, bow-leg and k-leg as injuries sustained in a sporting activity.In part (b) candidates correctly stated objectives of the Nagtional Sports Festival.  Whereas, few candidates confused question 7(b), 9(b) with 10(b) by interchanging the answers.

However, the expected answers were as follows:

10(a)     Injuries that can be sustained in a sporting activity
              -     fracture
              -     dislocation
              -     bruises/abrasion
              -     sprain
              -     bleeding
              -     strain
              -     muscle  cramp/muscle pull
              -     muscle tear
              -     fainting/shock
              -     wound/named/laceration

    (b)     Objectives of the National Sports Festival

               -     to promote peace and foster unity in the country
               -     to select athletes for  training for international competitions
               -     to encourage provision of facilities and equipment
               -     to promote physical fitness/sportsmanship
               -     to develop good citizens/leadership qualities
               -     to create sports awareness
               -     to create avenue for cultural exchange
               -     to create means of public entertainment
               -     to promote love, compassion and friendship
               -     to diffuse the tension of ethnic/inter tribal marriages
               -     to display talents and skills.
