Observation
Many candidates attempted this question and their performance was fair. In part (a) majority of the candidates were able to name types of relay races in athletics. In part (b) many candidates could not name jumping styles in high jump event, some candidates gave a wrong responses such as free style jump, bending jump, baton jump, short jump, long jump e.t.c. In part (c) many candidates mixed up long jump rules with high jump rules.

- 4 x 200m relay

(b) Styles in High Jump Events
- scissors
- eastern cut-off
- western roll

(c) Rules guiding the long jump event
- athlete must take-off from one leg/single take-off
- athlete must not step beyond the take-off board
- athlete must land within the landing area/pit
- must not walk back from the landing pit/area
- no check mark must be put on the runway/or around the landing area
- athlete must not run outside the runway
- three to six trials are allowed
- athlete must not somersault while in flight.
- athlete must not run through the pit
- measurement is taken at right angle from the edge of the take-off board.
- the best of the jumps of an athlete is taken after all the trials for each jumper
