This question was popular among the candidates and they performed well in it.

In part (a), majority of the candidates stated the duties of referee and timekeeper.

In part (b), majority of the candidates stated the skills in volleyball game.

In part (c), majority of the candidates mentioned the equipment needed by officials during a handball match.

            Duties of a Referee in the game of handball

• Starts and ends the game
• Inspects game facilities and equipment
• Keeps records of players cautioned, suspended and disqualified
• Keeps record of the game
• Checks the registration of all players
• Takes records of all goals scored by each team
• Calls for substitution in course of play
• Works cooperatively with other officials
• He ensures results are duly signed

• Rings the bell to indicate half  time / end of the match
• Controls the stop watch

• Cooperates with the referee on game related matters
• Controls over the number of players and officials on the substitutes’ bench
