The performance of the candidates was below average in this question.

In part (a), few candidates were able to state the effects of drug abuse on an athlete.
In part (b), majority of the candidates could not mention the examples of major International Sports Competitions.
In part (c), majority of the candidates could not explain the term box-work in gymnastics.

The expected answers are as follow:

• Brings about physical deterioration and poor coordination/decreases bone density and muscle mass
• Causes restlessness
• Interference with the functioning of the prostate gland
• Causes nervousness, mental disorder and loss of memory
• Slows down reaction time
• Leads to antisocial behavior and violence
• Induces loss of concentration and poor athletic performance
• Increase risk of injuries, accidents and death.
