DESIGN AND DRAWING
Candidates were required to design a side board from the incomplete front elevation provided, making two different preliminary sketches and give the front elevation and sectional end elevation of one of them.
Comments on Question 1 and 2
- Most of the candidates repeated the same design in two places;
 - no candidate correctly indicated the cutting plane on which the Sectional End is based;
 - some candidates displayed poor draughtsmanship skill;
 - some candidates work had no border lines, title block nor proper dimensioning
 
Candidates were scored according to the following guidelines:
Question 1
    Two  preliminary freehand pictorial sketches
- Resemblance
 - Completeness
 - Proportionality
 - Overall dimensioning (at least four)

Question 2
- Front Elevation (FE)
 
- Indication of sketch selected
 - Open side details (2 off) {2 sides, top, shelf, bottom}
 - Drawer details (2 off) {front, pull, locks}
 - Door detail (1 off) {hinges, handle, lock}
 - Plinth details
 - Indication of joints (at least 2)
 - Scale
 - Dimensioning (at least 4)
 - Line quality
 - Naming the view
