This question was attempted by majority of the candidates and their performance was good. Many candidates could not draw an exploded pictorial view in Question 2(a).
The expected answers are as follows:
- Description of the rotary method Of cutting veneer
- The rotary method is also called rotary knife-cut method. It is the most economical method of producing veneers. It produces large sheets. The log or billet is steamed. It is then mounted between centres on a large lathe. The log is forcefully rotated against a fixed knife which advances to peel a continuous sheet of veneer. The continuous sheet is cut into required sizes and dried.
