                  | The standard of the paper compared favourably with those of previous years.  Clarity of the rubrics and flexibility of the marking scheme were maintained.  The questions were clearly itemized, unambiguous and easily comprehensible.
The performance of the candidates was poorer than that of the previous year.  The candidate population of 1,059,609 had a raw mean score of 28 and a standard deviation of 13.48 as against a raw mean score of 33 and a standard deviation of 14.56 recorded in the May/June 2008 WASSCE with a candidature of 1,050,591.
