Weakness and Remedies

 

Majority of the candidates were unable to:

  • state the uses of ranging pole, Gunter’s chain, prismatic compass and theodolite;
  • explain the effects of rainfall, sunlight, wind and human activities on the distribution of natural pastures in Nigeria;
  • state six physical soil factors that affect the establishment of forage crops;
  • state the symptoms and control of animal diseases;

  Based on the observed weaknesses the Chief Examiners recommended as follows:

  • adequate coverage of the syllabuses by candidates is advocated. Aspects of the syllabus such as basic concepts, agricultural ecology, crop and animal production, agricultural economics amongst others should be covered by candidates with particular emphasis on the new areas of the syllabus;
  • candidates should express themselves clearly and concisely;
  • candidates should write legibly;
  • candidates should avoid repetition of answers;
  • only graduates of Agricultural Science/Agriculture should be allowed to teach the subject in

   Senior Secondary Schools in West Africa.
