Comment
The performance of the candidates in this question was poor. They could not draw and label the components of a thermosyphon type of cooling system. The other parts were not well attempted by the candidates too. The required the answers were as follows
(i) Advantages of thermo-syphon cooling system
- Fewer components.
- No thermostat is needed as the engine temperature is determined by the rate of water circulation.
- The system depends on natural circulation etc.
- Disadvantages of thermo-syphon cooling system
- Bulky radiator
- Slow in operation due to conversion current
- Large quantity of water needed etc.
