| Comments The candidates could not draw the two leading shoes brake arrangement and label the parts of the sketch.  They also performed poorly in the other parts of the question.  Some of the expected responses were as follows: Reason why the two leading shoes brake arrangement is mostly used in the front wheels of a four wheel drum brake system. The two leading shoe arrangement has more braking force than the leading ad trailing shoe used at the rear, because it has 1½   of the total braking force as against 1 of the leading and trailing.  Secondly more braking force is needed at the front wheels than at the rear a as a result of weight transfer during braking and the avoid skidding of the rear wheels.   |
