CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES AND SUGGESTED REMEDIES

The observed weaknesses of the candidates this year include

1. inability to answer questions on some topics e.g. in ecology and genetics.

2. inability to express their answers in clear English words.


3. inability to spell technical terms.


4. poor handwriting


5. inability to state the function of the parts in a dicotyledonous leaf.


6. inability to state the function of the parts in the stem of a flowering plant.

7. inability to state the differences between the internal structures of the stem and root of a maize seedling.


8. inability to make a genetic diagram of the dihybrid cross.


9. some candidates could not state the mode of feeding in the listed organisms.

  
                

The following remedies were proffered to overcome the weaknesses:

1. candidates should cover the syllabus before taking the examinations.


2. candidates should improve on their written English.
   
   
3. candidates should read and understand a question properly before attempting it;


4. candidates study ecology and genetics properly.


5. candidates should study past questions and Chief Examiner’s Report;


6. candidates should avoid copying answers.
