This was a popular question with the candidates and they performed well.
   Most candidates could describe the role of the stomach in digestion and the relevant points were
    given  in a sequential order.
The candidates were able to properly state the sites of food storage in plants but performed poorly   in giving examples.  In explaining the process of sugar regulation most candidates instead of describing the process merely stated the role of insulin in sugar regulation and so lost a lot of  marks.
Expected  answers include:
            Examples of sites of food storage in plants.
            Leaves- Onions, Shallot, Garlic
            Stems -  Yam, Sugar cane, Ginger, Irish potatoes.
            Root – Cassava, Carrots, Sweet potatoes.
            Seed -  Groundnut, Beans, Coconut, Cashew
            Fruit – Maize, Guava, Orange, Pawpaw, Cashew, Palm nut, Mango.

           Sugar regulation in mammals

                      - The  liver controls the blood glucose levels;

                      - It  converts excess glucose in the blood to glycogen;

                      - The  process is stimulated by the hormone insulin; which is secreted by the  pancreas;

                      - When  the blood glucose level falls below normal;

                      - The  pancreas secretes another hormone glucagon;

                      - This  stimulates the conversion  of glycogen into glucose;

                      - Which is released into the blood.
