Some weaknesses observed in going through the scripts of the  candidates include:
                      
                        -  Poor spelling of technical terms and one-word  answers;
 
                        - Poor  grasp of English Language hence inability to properly express themselves;
 
                        - Weak  performance in questions requiring detailed explanations and application of  knowledge;
 
                        - Describing  processes in a non-sequential order;
 
                        - Answering  questions in bullet form;
 
                        - Manifest  lack of understanding of the demands of the question;
 
                        - Poor  understanding of certain genetic terms e.g.  pure breeding, nucleotide and hybrid.                      
 
                      
                      
                      The following remedies were proffered to overcome these  weaknesses:
                        Teachers should have the relevant  qualifications to teach biology;
                      
                        -  Endeavour to complete the syllabus before the  onset of the examinations
 
                        -  Discourage the use of key points by the  students.
 
                      
                                   Students should – prepare adequately for the examinations;
 Attempt  past question papers before the onset of the examinations
