The following shortcomings were observed from candidates’ responses:
- Poor lettering skills.
- Inability to draw to specified scale.
- Non-adherence to specifications.
To overcome these weaknesses, candidates should be:
- Well grounded in the rudiments of technical drawing such as lettering
techniques;
- given ample drawing assignments;
- Well acquainted with scales being used in the production of building drawing;
- taught the importance of adherence to specifications. In addition the legal
and financial implications of non-adherence to specifications in the construction industry should be emphasized by the teacher.
