  • (a)        State the function of each of the following parts as used in door construction:
    (i)         transom;
    (ii)        muntin;

    (b)        State two functions of a roof covering.
    (c)        Sketch a timber stair of two steps and label the following parts:
    (i)         nosing;
    (ii)        going;

    5.(a)     Function of each of the following parts as used in door construction:

    1. transome – to provide horizontal separation between the door and the fanlight.
    2. muntin – to create space vertically for the panels.
    3. hardwood threshold – to throw off rainwater at the floor level blown by storm/means of access to a door from the ground when fixed in a form of steps.

     

     

       (b)    Two functions of a roof covering:

    1. it completes the building from the top;
    2. it keeps away dust;
    3. it keeps away sun rays and  rain water from the building;
    4. provides security to occupants;
    5. it keeps away rodent, birds from entering the building through the top;
    6. it keeps away rainwater from the building.
