Observation

Most candidates were able to:
-- list three materials used for the manufacture of road kerbs.
-- sketch the steel tee hinge used in fixing gates.
However, majority of the candidates were not able to:
- state three reasons for paving around a building;
- Sketch the barrel bolt.

The expected response to question 5 (a) and (c) (ii) is as given below;

1. Three reasons for paving around a building:
   1. to check erosion;
   2. to beautify the area (aesthetic);
   3. to serve as a walkway;
   4. to prevent vegetative growth;
   5. to prevent dampness due to rising moisture;
   6. to prevent dust.
