Candidate's Weakness and Remedies

 

A SUMMARY OF CANDIDATE’S  WEAKNESSES
-           inability to produce drawings to a specified scale;
-           poor knowledge and skills of dimensioning;
-           failure to adhere to drawing specifications.
To overcome these weaknesses, students should be well grounded in the rudiments of technical drawing which includes:
-           the subject teacher should help the students acquire and develop skills in the
art of dimensioning by posting a chart illustrating various dimensioning techniques in a conspicuous place in their drawing studio, giving them frequent graded drawing assignments or projects involving dimensioning, use of symbols illustrating building materials and enforcing students possession  of the recommended technical or architectural  drawing textbooks.

 

  •       The students should be helped to become well acquainted with the various scales

used for architectural drawings and their specific applications i.e. scales 1: 20,  1:100; 1: 250; and 1: 500 for details sections; floor plans and elevations; site plans and block plans respectively.

 

  •       during the course programme, students should be sensitized to the legal and 

economic implications of non-adherence to building construction (drawing)  specifications. The course teacher should employ a method of drawing assignment or project assessment that would enable him to enforce students adhere to specifications.
