This question was popular among candidates. Candidate who understood the demands of the question did not have problem answering it as they performed greatly in it especially in the B part. They were able to outline the leadership qualities of Joseph with ease which made him secure his freedom from prison.

Weaknesses on the part of candidates in the A part is attributed to the wasting of time by candidates who gave unnecessary preamble and introduction to this question and in most cases, they wrote about the encounter of Joseph with Portiphar’s wife and the circumstances of how Joseph ended in prison rather than limiting their focus on how he was set free. Below are the expected points the candidates should have started writing their points from.

1. After his encounter with Potiphar’s wife, Joseph was imprisoned.
2. While in prison, Joseph interpreted the dreams of the chief butler and the chief baker of the king of Egypt.
3. Two years later Pharaoh had two dreams.
4. In the first dream Pharaoh saw seven giant and thin cows.
5. And to his surprise, the thin ones swallowed the fat ones.
6. In the second dream seven thin ears of grain swallowed seven plump ears of grain.
7. Pharaoh was disturbed because none of his magicians and wise men could interpret the dreams.
8. It was at this time that the King’s chief butler remembered who interpreted his dream in prison.
9. The butler then told Pharaoh of Joseph’s ability to interpret his dream.
10. Pharaoh instantly requested that Joseph be brought out of the prison.
