Produce the test piece shown below, using timber which has been planed to the following sizes:

Two pieces      -           20 x 120 x 240) hardwood
Two pieces      -           20 x 120 x 250) hardwood

PROCEDURE (STEP BY STEP)

Observation

STEP 1
Candidates were required to make pin joint. Most candidates were able to make the joint. However, few of them failed to make the joint.
Each candidate’s workpiece was to have two mortises and two pins at the both sides of the model of shelf fitted together.

STEP 2
Candidates were required to make through dovetail joint for the model of a shelf. Some candidates were able to make the joint correctly. However, most of them could not make the joint correctly as required.
Each candidate’s workpiece was to have a trench at the right side of the model of the shelf fitted together without splitting.

STEP 3
Candidates were required to make through housing joint for the model of a shelf. Some candidates were able to make the joint correctly. However, most of them could not make the joint correctly as required.
Each candidates work piece was to have one trench at the left side of the table organizer fitted together without splitting.

 

STEP 4
Candidates were required to shape the two side rails of the model of a shelf. Few candidates were able to shape the two side rails of the model of a shelf. However, some of them failed to shape the two side rails of the shelf.
Each candidate’s workpiece was to have curved shapes at the two side rails of the model of a shelf.

STEP 5
Candidates were required to assemble their workpiece correctly and clean up. Some candidates were able to assemble their final workpieces correctly. However, few of them were unable to assemble their final workpieces correctly.
Each candidate’s final workpiece must be well assembled and have a smooth surfaces.
