Although question 5 was widely attempted by candidates, their responses were not totally satisfactory. In 5a, they were able to state the factors that influence menu planning but with answers from the Foods and Nutrition perspective. For instance, candidates stated size of family as a factor that influence menu planning but this is not correct because Catering Craft Practice has nothing to do with family. This point would have been correctly stated as number of guests or customers. In addition, candidates answered 5b where they were required to state the rules to observe in food service, from the Foods and Nutrition perspective. In response to this question, candidates stated table manners such as do not talk with food in your mouth and this is totally wrong.
