Candidates could not:

• Name one catalyst used in contact process;
• Write the equation for the reaction in the absorption tower;
• Write the formula of sodium trioxonitrate (V) decahydrate
• Write the formula of potassium tetraoxosulphate (V);
• List two uses of producer gas;
• State one similarity between saponification and neutralization reactions

The following remedies were however suggested.

Candidates should:

• Understand the demands of the questions before responding to them;
• Learn to explain concepts using appropriate technical terms;
• Learn to answer questions on reaction schemes;
• Read and understand the rubrics of the questions before responding to them;.
