(c)  (i) Computer file

isa collection or group of digital/electronics records stored in a computer storage device. For example, excel file, CorelDraw file, database file, image file, video file, audio file, graphics file, text file and PowerPoint file

OR

Computer file is a smallest meaningful unit of data representation within a computer. For example, excel file, CorelDraw file, database file, image file, video file, audio file, graphics file, text file and PowerPoint file.                                                                              

(ii) Record

A record is a collection/ group of logically related fields/attributes/data items which together can be treated as a unit that describes an entity in a computer. For example student’s record, staff/personnel records, health record, birth record and death record.

OR

A record describes an entity and it runs from left to right in a database table.For example student’s record, staff/personnel record, health record, birth record and death record.


The question tested candidates’ knowledge on computer files.
