(e)     List materials needed for the activities being carried out in the diagrams above.

(f)      State reasons for colouring hair.

(g)     Enumerate the advantages of hair colouring.

(g)     (i) recognize a negative skin test on a client.
(ii)  mention sign of positive skin test on a client.   

 

OBSERVATION

Majority of the candidates answered the question correctly and they were able to identified,give the general name, differentiate between the activities be carried out in the diagrams, list
materials needed for the activities  and stated  reason for hair colouring.
Only few of the candidates were unable to state the negative and positive skin test. Therefore the candidates performed very well.


The expected answers are

     (a)  IDENTIFICATION OF ACTIVITIES BEING CARRIED OUT  IN THE
DIAGRAM  LABELLED FIGS I TO IV.       
I     washing patch test area behind the ear;
II    mixing one cap of tint and one cap of hydrogen peroxide;
III   Applying tint mixture behind the ear;
IV   Giving a patch test at the inner fold of elbow.

(b) GENERAL NAME OF THE ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT IN FIGS I TO IV.

• Patch test.

(c)  PROCEDURES OF ACTIVITIES BEING CARRIED OUT IN THE DIGRAMS 
 ABOVE.

• Select test area either behind the ear or on the inner fold of the elbow;
• Wash test area, about the size of a quarter with mild soap and water;
• Dry the test area by patting with absorbent cotton or clean towel;
• Prepare the test solution by mixing one capful of tint and one capful of 20 volume hydrogen peroxide or a directed by the manufacturer;
• Apply enough test solution with cotton tipped applicator to cover the area previously cleaned;
• Allow the test area to dry leave it uncovered and undisturbed for 24 hours;
• Examine the test area for either a negative or positive reaction.
