Basic Electronics Paper 2, WASSCE (SC), 2019

Candidates' Weakness

The Chief Examiner reported that the main weakness that characterized performance in this year’s examination is that where questions required candidates to interpret some concept in order to respond to a question, response is generally below average. And in cases of questions from areas of the syllabus that are not frequently examined, performance was also poor.

(b)       Suggested Remedy
To overcome these weaknesses, it was suggested in the report that candidates should:

  • understand the implications of simple concepts (such as ‘resonance’, ‘operating point’, amplifier classification’’ and ‘comparator-in feedback control’;
  • cover all the sections of the syllabus before the period of examination.
