Study the map extract on a scale of `1:00,000 and answer the following questions: (a) Draw an outline of the area enclosed by ABCD using a new scale of 1:50,000. (b) On your new outline, insert and name the: Settlement of PINDIGA; Minor road; 1,400 ft contour line. (c) State three reasons why the settlement of PINDIGA is more important than the settlement of Sudingo. (d) Using evidence from the while map, identify any two landuse types in the mapped area.

Observation
This question was answered by majority of the candidates. Many of the candidates who answered the question performed well. Most candidates knew how to enlarge the map and inserted the required features but were unable to give reasons why the settlement of PINDIGA is more important than the settlement of Sudingo. The expected reasons include: - the presence of a market at PINDIGA which is not at Sudingo; - the presence of a school at PINDIGA which is not at Sudingo; - the presence of a minor road at PINDIGA which is not in Sudingo; - PINDIGA is larger in size than Sudingo; - PINDIGA is a built up settlement whereas Sudingo is not; - PINDIGA is a town whereas Sudingo is a village.
