(a) Define Communism
(b) Outline four features of communism

Observation

This was a straightforward question requiring candidates to define communism as a form of economic and political system in which the means of production and exchange are commonly owned and equally distributed. Some good candidates gave good definition and were awarded full marks.
      However, some candidates failed to score good marks in their answers because they could not distinguish between communism and socialism. Hence they were writing on the features of socialism instead of communism. The overall candidates' performance in the question was below average. Some of the salient points some weak candidates left out in their answers included:
- it is classless society;
- opposition not tolerated;
- economy is collectively planned;
- state withers away, etc.
