(a)            Define a syllable

     (b)       Identify the syllable structure and the number of syllables in each of the following words:
                 (i)        tantagarya
                 (ii)       masana 'anta
                 (iii)      hatsabibi
                 (iv)       auratayya
                 (v)        kekasasshiya

           (a)         Mece ce ga6a?
           (b)         Yayyanka ga50l5in wadannan kalmomi tare da kawo adadinsu a kowace kalma:
                       (i)          tantagarya
                       (ii)          masana 'anta
                       (iii)         hatsabibi
                       (iv)        auratayya
                       (v)         kekasasshiya

Observation

This is also a question on phonology and it requires the candidates to 'define a syllable, the syllable structure and number of syllable in each of the words above. Therefore, a syllable can be defined as 'yanki na kalma mai gwama baki da wasali a jere'. Misali.:
           (i)        tantagarya                     tan/talgar/yal                             ga6a hucfu
           (ii)       masana'anta                  malsalnalan/tal                         ga6a biyar
           (iii)      hatsabibi                       haltsalbi/bi                               ga6a hucfu, d.s.
