  2. (b) State five features of endomorphs. [ 5 marks ]
  3. (c) Explain the following terms:
  4. (i) personal hygiene;
  5. (ii) physical health;
  6. (iii) blood pressure [6 marks ]
  7. (d) List four injuries that could occur in the muscles of humans [4 marks]

Observation

This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was poor.  In part (a) candidates wrote wrong answers such as promote good posture, provision of health centre and water as factors necessary for the maintenance of health.  In part (b) candidates could not correctly state features of endomorphs.  In part (c) candidates could not also correctly explain physical health and blood pressure and blood pressure as terms used in health only few of them correctly explained personal hygiene.
In part (d) candidates could not correctly list injuries that occur in the muscles of humans.

  • personal hygiene/living a healthy life

  • food hygiene
  • regular medical check-up

 
(b)       FEATURES OF ENDOMORPHS

            -           fatty layers
-           roundness and softness of the body
-           possession of small bones
-           short and muscular neck
-           possession of smooth body contours
-           short and tapering limbs
-           possession of wide buttocks
 
(c)       EXPLANATION OF THE TERMS
(I)      PERSONAL HYGIENE
Is the general cleanliness of the body, clothing, bedding and all personal effects at all times.                                                                    
(II)     PHYSICAL HEALTH
This is the physical well-being of an individual to perform daily activities without stress/ rigour / tiredness/disease                                               
(III)     BLOOD PRESSURE
Is the force exerted, to the blood in the blood vessels, by the pumping action
