Observation

• This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was poor.  In part (a) candidates could not state effects of pest infestations in the homes. In part (b) candidates also could not correctly state ways of preventing drug abuse 
  
  The expected answers are as follows

  2 (a)    EFFECTS OF PEST INFESTATION IN HOMES
  -    disease/named may set in
  -     sudden death may occur
  -     food may be poisoned/contaminated
  -     damage of food/quality reduced
  -     damage of properties
   
  (b)      WAYS OF PREVENTING DRUG ABUSE
  -    enlightenment/orientation campaign on the effects of drug abuse
  -    strict adherence to drug prescription
  -    counselling/good parental care
  -    avoid self-medication
  -    visit doctor in case of illness/symptoms
  -    avoid keeping drug where children can easily reach
  -    introduction of health education in the school/curriculum

    -    enforcement of laws prohibiting use/sales of certain drugs
