Question 1

(a) State five important principles for proper use of time.

(b) State the difference between standard of living and level of
living.

Observation

Most candidates attempted the question and did well but some did not answer "the
importance of proper use of time" well. Also most of them did not know the
difference between standard of living and level of living.

The required answers to the question are as follows:

            1 a.      Principles for proper use of time:

                         i. Avoid procrastination that is, delaying activities

                         ii. Use a time table or time plan

                         iii.Arrange all the household chores so that they can be done sequentially  or orderly.

                        iv. Start with work that may take a long period or time to accomplish.

                       v. Concentrate on the task at hand/avoid distraction.

                       Vi. Dove - tail work or tasks/do more than one task at a time when possible.

                       Vii. Plan to incorporate time for leisure or rest

                       Viii. Consider weather condition when planning

                       ix. Use work simplification techniques.

                       x. Clear away and wash up utensils as you work.

                       xi. Learn and use the best method for doing the task

                       Xll. Make use of available labour saving equipment.

           (b)       Difference between standard of living and level of living.

                       The standard of living are all the things a person or family aspire or  wish to have but have not yet                       got while the level of living are all those  things which a person or family have actually obtained.
                                                                  OR
                      The standard of living is made up of all goods and services as well as patterns of                       consumption  desired by a person or family while the level of living is made up of all the actual                       goods and services that people or families have obtained and do consume.
