Question 1


Observation

ACandidates were expected to write a letter to their relatives in another town, requesting for money to celebrate their final year in school after graduation.

They were expected to write things like:

-how much they want

-what the money will be used for

-the day of the party its benefits and venue.

Few candidates that attempted this question were unable to use the correct format.

 

B. Candidates were asked to write on the disadvantages of phone. They were expected to mention the implications like people using it to tell lies, to steal, to deceive people and so on.

Many candidates could not define ‘phone’    and were unable to write correctly.

C.  In this question, candidates were asked to write on a debate topic: Schooling in a Government School is Better than Schooling in a Private School. They were expected to back up their choice with good points.

Many candidates did not go for this question and few that attempted it performed poorly.

D.  Candidates were requested to write a story that ends with this proverb: ‘Ọkwụrụ Anaghị Amịrị Ote Ofe’ which means good things do not come for those that know the benefits.

Few candidates answered this question probably because they did not understand the meaning of the proverb.

E.  Candidates were expected to write in a dialogue form, the discussion that two students had concerning HIV AIDS.

Some of the candidates that attempted this question failed to mention the required points like: its Igbo names, where it originated from, how it is contracted, its symptoms and necessary precautions. Very few candidates were able to answer this question.
