Observation

This was a popular question although many candidates were able to define the street child but only few could establish explicitly a relationship with the title of the novel.

The following points should be well developed by candidates:

• Definition of the street child as minors living on the street and fending for themselves.
• The street child takes on the characteristics of the street, losing his or her identity, hence becomes faceless.
• Reasons why a child leaves home to become entrapped by streetism.
• The predicament of the street child like molestation, rape, bullying and thuggery.
• The helplessness of the street child.
• Facelessness of the street child.

Candidates’ performance in this question was fair.
