This was a popular question. However, many candidates either wrote a character sketch of Dr. Onwieyie or confused him with Lawyer Onyimdze.
The role of Dr. Onwieyie in the play includes:

• He is a physician and surgeon whose ideals are diametrically opposed to those of Mrs Borofosem and company, thus presenting a view of the author’s overt criticism of the Mrs Borofosem’s prototype.
• He is a competent and highly overseas-trained doctor who complements Onyimdze’s uprightness with his own.
• He shows his intolerance of immorality and vice when he drives out the school girl who attempts to seduce him and rejects Miss Tsiba’s bribe to carry out an abortion on her.
