Candidates' Weakness

The following weaknesses were observed in the candidates’ scripts:

  1. Poor handwriting
  2. Some candidates presented their work using poor handwriting. Such scripts were barely readable and such candidate loosed precious marks.

     

  3. Mere listing of points
  4. Most candidates could not adequately explain the points which were meant to be explained leading to low marks.

     

  5. None coverage of the Syllabus
  6. Some candidates could not fully cover the syllabus before the examination date. Such candidate performed poorly in questions that came out from those topics that were left uncovered.

     

  7. None Adherence to Rubrics
  8. Despite the fact that candidates were instructed to answer all questions in Section A; some candidates left some of the questions in section A unanswered thus loosing the mark for such questions.

Suggested Remedies

The measures to be taken to overcome the weaknesses discovered in the candidates’ scripts are thus:

 

  1. Development of good handwriting
  2. Candidates are advised to build good handwriting as this will facilitate easy reading of the materials they have written down.

     

  3. Adequate explanations of points
  4. It is advisable that points which needed to be explained are adequately explained in order to obtain full marks allotted to the questions.

     

  5. Full coverage of the syllabus
  6. Candidates are advised to start reading for the examination early enough so that they would fully cover the syllabus before the next examination date.

     

  7. Adherence to rubrics
  8. Rubrics are meant to be adhered to. This is necessary in order to obtain the maximum possible mark.
