(a) Explain any three of the following terms:
           (i)           stretto;
           (ii)       ripieno;
          (iii)      ostinato;
          (iv)      recitative stromentato;
          (v)       fantasia.
          (c)           For each of the terms explained above, mention one work where used.
          (d)          With A minor as a principal key, outline the plan of a rondo, mentioning the keys of the
various sections.

Observation

Many candidates avoided this question but the few that attempted it did well.
Some of the expected answers are:
(a) (i) An overlapping of voices, a device found in a fugue A section of a fugue where each of the voices come in quick succession.

(ii) It is the tutti in the Baroque concerto grosso.
It is when the larger ensemble is playing on the Baroque concerto grosso.
