Photography Paper 2 WASSCE (SC), 2018

Candidates' Weaknesses

Candidates’ weaknesses as reflected in their works were the ignorance of basic practical concepts. The candidates’ are not familiar with the basic practical concepts in photography for example question 5, was on the manipulation and setting of digital camera (only few students attempted this question, most of them skipped the question). Question 6 was also skipped by most of the candidates. Question 6 was on the use of flash light (flash technique) which is centred on studio light use, which is best experienced.

SUGGESTED REMEDIES TO OVERCOME CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES

  1. Visits to photography studios for practical teaching to balance the theoretical class.
  2. Qualified teachers should be employed to teach the candidates.
  3. Recommended textbook should be made available for use in schools.
  4. Candidates should read and practice what they have read.
