Observation

This question was attempted by many candidates and the  candidates’ performance was fair.  In part (a) candidates could not write correctly what is tourniquet.  Candidates wrote tourniquet assists in all game and sports and if any sportsman is to succeed.  In sports he must have use tourniquet.  In part (b) some candidates could not write factors that cause injuries during a sporting activity, candidates wrote crowd control, absence of security agents and not separating spectators from players.

The expected answers were as follows:

7(a)      Tourniquet
Tourniquet is a device created by twisting a material/named over an injured part to arrest bleeding.

  (b)      Factors that can cause injuries during a sporting activity

  1. performing with supports/spotter;
  2. lack/inadequate warming up;
  3. non adherence to rules/instructions;
  4. faulty equipment/apparatus/bad facility and environmental factor e.g.

broken bottles nails, slippery surface;

  • performing beyond capacity level/bravado;
  • lack of supervision;
  • lack of skill;
  • fatigue;
  • improper pairing of athletes;
  • not wearing adequate sports kits.
