(b) State three qualities of a salesman.

(c) State four functions of a salesman.

Observation

Here, candidates were expected to define selling by pointing out that the interaction between the seller and the buyer should result in closing the sale or cash payment/satisfaction. This was lacking in most of the responses.

 

The response expected from candidates is

 

Selling is the processing of determining the needs of a prospective customer and of presenting a product or service in such a way that the customer is motivated to make a favourable buying decision.

 

OR

 

Selling is the personal communication of information about goods, services or ideas between a buyer and a seller for the purpose of actualizing sales.

 

In question 1(b) while most candidates clearly pointed out the qualities of a salesman, others juxtaposed with functions question in 1(c).
