2 (a)     Sources through which an entrepreneur can generate business ideas are through:

  1. Inspiration and creativity of the owner of the business;        
  2. Trade fairs and exhibitions;
  3. Imitation of products of other businesses;
  4. Internet sources;
  5. Vocational training and apprenticeship;
  6. Mass media;
  7. Interest, Passion, Hobbies and lifestyle of the entrepreneur;
  8. Personal experience and knowledge of the individual;
  9. Dreams and revelations;
  10. Major events in the society;
  11. Changes in government policy;
  12. Brain storming;

(b)        Purposes of having handling equipment in the store are to;

  1. carry loads too heavy to be handled manually;
  2. save time in the movement and storage of goods;
  3. enhance labour efficiency and productivity;
  4. optimize the use of space in the store;
  5. enhance safety in the store by minimizing the risk of injuries to workers;
  6. protect materials from damages, deterioration and poor handling.

(c)         Measures that can be taken to prevent materials deterioration in the store.

  1. Carry out proper materials handling to reduce damages and breakages of materials.
  2. Conduct regular stocktaking and checking of all materials to reduce the risk of deterioration.
  3. Carry out regular checks to ensure that all storage installations are clean and damp free.
  4. Ensure that adequate ventilation and conditions of temperature are correct for the goods being stored.
  5. Comply with suppliers’ storage instructions.
  6. Issue out materials with short shelf life on the basis of First-in First-out to prevent deterioration.
    Avoid overstocking of materials in the store to reduce the risk of deterioration.    
  7. Keep materials in the store safe from bad weather condition.
  8. Ensure that the store is strictly out of bounds from unauthorized person who may mishandle materials in the store.
  9. Report damaged, obsolescence, obsolete and redundant items in the store promptly.
  10. Ensure that a good store layout is utilized.
  11. Carry out regular cleaning of the store to avoid pest and insects in the store.
  12. Arrange for proper storage of items with unique characteristics.
