Observation
The question was attempted by few candidates. Candidates found the composition difficult to draw. Hence, the poor performance by the candidates. The following points were expected from the candidates to obtain the maximum marks:
1. DRAWING QUALITY
(a) Accurate drawing of a male model dressed in a T- shirt and trousers sitting on a stool behind a sewing machine with a flowing fabric in a sewing position.
(b) Accurate drawing of the model’s right hand slipping the fabric towards the needle.
(c) Accurate drawing of the model’s left hand drawing the sewn part of the fabric.
(d) Accurate drawing of the model gazing at the needle point.
2. TONE/COLOUR
(a) Effective shading to depict the model sitting on a stool behind a sewing machine with a flowing fabric in a sewing position.
(b) Accurate indication of the source of light in the composition.
(c) Ability to create the correct feeling in the composition.
3. COMPOSITION
(a) Centrality of the composition on the paper.
(b) Balanced pose of the model according to instruction.
(c) Use of paper to advantage (at least ¾ of the paper).
(d) Indication of background and baseline.
4. ORIGINALITY
(a) Showing effective drawing skill and personalized style.
(b) Showing effective use of art materials (colour, pencil, charcoal pen and ink).
