Observation

The question was attempted by few candidates. The candidates performed fairly. The candidates were expected to answer in the following way:

A.        DRAWING                          

(i)        Effective drawing of a Maiden.                                                                             

(ii)        Appropriate use of proportions.     

B.        COMPOSITION                              

(i)         Representation of appropriate setting of the theme: Maiden.                                
(ii)        Skillful arrangement of the maiden in a related background.                                
(iii)       Judicious use of space (at least ¾ of the paper provided).      

C.        COLOUR                             

(i)         Choice of colours that contrast and harmonize.                                                        

(ii)        Effective mixture, application and distribution of colours in a mixed media painting.                                    

(iii)       Ability to show the direction of light on figures and objects.                                 

D.        INTERPRETATION                      

(i)         Correct and pleasing visual representation of the theme in mixed media painting.                                    

E.        ORIGINALITY                               

(i)         Personalized style in composition and overall visual effect.
