Majority of the candidates were able to name the suitable materials for the manufacture of each of the given fittings.
However, they failed to state six stages involved in fixing tongue and groove timber flooring to a hardened concrete floor slab using embedded battens.

3 (a) Stages involved in fixing a tongue and groove timber flooring to a hardened concrete floor slab using embedded battens:
- treat the exposed battens and timber boards with preservatives;
- measure and cut the timber boards to the required sizes;
- lay bituminous felt on the concrete slab;
- place the board across the batten;
- fix the tongue and groove boards to the embedded battens using secret nailing to ensure tight joints are well positioned;
- make good any defect and polish to the required standard.

- stainless steel and plastic;
- ceramics, plastic, stainless steel and porcelain;
