5.(a) Function of each of the following parts as used in door construction:
- transome – to provide horizontal separation between the door and the fanlight.
- muntin – to create space vertically for the panels.
- hardwood threshold – to throw off rainwater at the floor level blown by storm/means of access to a door from the ground when fixed in a form of steps.
(b) Two functions of a roof covering:
- it completes the building from the top;
- it keeps away dust;
- it keeps away sun rays and rain water from the building;
- provides security to occupants;
- it keeps away rodent, birds from entering the building through the top;
- it keeps away rainwater from the building.
