This question was not popular with the candidates. Those that attempted it wrote off point because they expressed their own personal views and ideas using the concept of respect in regards to the African setting. This is totally different from how Peter presented his advice to elders and youth in the church. To this end, they scored poor marks.  The essential points they ought to have mentioned were:

1. Peter exhorted the elders in the church to tend the flock of God under their care.
2. The flock should be cared for not by constraint but willingly; not for shameful gain but eagerly.
3. The elders are to lead the flock by their example of mature Christian character.
4. So that on the arrival of the chief shepherd they would share his glory and also receive an unfading crown.
5. Peter also advised the young to submit to the elders.
6. He advised both the elders and the young to show humility to each other.
7. He said God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
8. Peter again said that the old and the young should show humility to each other before God so that in due time, God would exalt them.
9. The old and the young should all cast their anxieties on the Lord since he cares for them
10. He again advised both that they should be sober and watchful.
11. The reason being that the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.
12. Peter said that they can resist the devil by their firm faith in Christ.
13. Finally, Peter remarked that Christian suffering would last only for a while but their glory in Christ would be eternal.

Candidates overall performance to this question was below average. The B part of the question was well answered which boosted the marks of candidates a little. Candidates outlined points such as:

1. Generational gap.
2. Some elders behave authoritatively/superiority complex.
3. Some of the youth do not want to submit to authority/Arrogance.
4. Absence of relevant democratic structures for peace making in the church.
5. Influence of foreign culture.
6. Favourtism from leadership. etc.
