Majority of the candidates did not answer these questions. Candidates could not identify the crown of a sleeve. They do not know the armhole curve of a sleeve.
A good number of candidates identified the sleeve hern/hemline as arm circumference. Candidates should be taught pattern drafting and labeling of blocks for easy identification of various construction details not only on a sleeve but also on the bodice, skirt and the trouser.(5b) Few candidates answered the question correctly . The functions of the style features in garment making are to:
- disguise or cover figure faults
- give style variations
- decorate / beautify a garment
- complete the garment
- give fit to a garment
(5c) Candidates were required to make a list of style features that can be found on blouses a good number of candidates were able to respond positively to the question. They passed this section while others failed. Beads and embroidery are surface enrichment and not features as mentioned by some candidates. Styles features that can be found on blouses are sleeves, capes, ruffles necklines, peplum, and shirring, pleats smocking, tucks, darts etc
