This was a fairly popular question and the performance of the candidates in the question was just fair. This is because many of the candidates who answered the question could not draw a good outline map of Nigeria and therefore could not properly locate the minerals and towns. This made them to loose valuable marks. Furthermore, most candidates only listed points as answers to the (b) and (c) parts of the question which also led to loss of precious marks. It is expected that candidates make some explanation whenever they are instructed to describe or highlight. For example, if growth of towns is I listed as a point that under the contribution of minerals to the econom ic development of Nigeria, it is expected that the candidate substantiate his/her point by explaining further that towns expand and develop in areas where mineral deposits are being exploited. |
