The summary of candidates’ weaknesses were as follows:
(1) poor communication skill which prevented them from driving home their points;
(2) inadequate preparation for the examination;
(3) inadequate knowledge of Current Affairs which made citing practical examples difficult;
(4) reading of sub-standard textbooks which prevented them from having indept knowledge of the topics.
However, the identified weaknesses could be ameliorated if the:
- candidates endeavour to read standard Government textbooks and prepare adequately for the examination;
- candidates widen their knowledge of Current Affairs through reading newspapers, magazines, journals, etc. This will also improve their usage of English Language;
- teachers ensure that the entire Syllabus is covered before the examination;
- schools engage the services of qualified teachers to handle the subject.
