Observation

This was a fairly popular question and not many attempted it.  Most of the candidates who attempted it performed very well.  However, those who failed were giving skimpy answers. The candidates were expected to give the following points as answers to the question.

1. Appointment of officers to run the affairs of the Emirates.
2. He performed ceremonial duties during durbars.
3. Conferred honorary titles on distinguished citizens and brave warriors.
4. Legislative functions- made laws and enforced same for the territories under his jurisdiction.
5. Defense of the Emirates against internal and external attacks/security functions.
6. Judicial function-sit in judgment over cases.
7. Religious function-enforced the Sharia Law as head of the Emirates.
8. Maintained law and order across the Emirate.
9. Imposition and collection of taxes/tributes/He imposed different types of taxes on his people.
10. He allocated lands for various purposes to the people.
11. He mobilized the people for communal labour/services.
12. Provided social services to the people.
