Observation

In question 5(a), candidates were asked to state points to consider in wardrobe planning.  
Majority of the candidates answered correctly. The candidates wrote their answers as
Weather conditions – different types of clothing will be needed for different types of    
temperature.

• Family standard/ status – clothing choice should reflect the family standard or status.
• Money available – this determines the number and type of clothing.
• Occasion or use of clothes – clothing is needed for different occasions and activities.
• Available storage facility.
• Fashion trend – determines the choice of style or what to wear.
• Personal features – figure types and complexion will affect choice of clothing.
• Personal taste – determines whether a person chooses simple or sophisticated style.
• Color scheme – is needed for harmonious dressing.
• Existing wardrobe – will determine the new clothes to be purchased.

For 5(b) majority of the candidates answered correctly some of the answers given were
CHARACTERISTICS OF LINEN FABRICS

• It is non elastic.
• Linen is strong/ hard wearing.
• Linen fabrics are absorbent.
• It is a good conductor of heat.
• Linen is moth proof.
• It can be easily bleached.
• It has a glossy surface and lends itself to successful laundry.
• It is highly inflammable.
• It can be easily dyed.
