(a) It is a poem that gives overwhelming influence that Nature exercises a great influence on man. This can be seen from the presentation of common people like the Solitary Reaper, “forest”, “birds”, songs from nature animals and humans. All these have great influence on the poet.
(b) As the poet listens to the “plaintive numbers’ he appears mesmerized.
(c) In the poem, the valley is said to be ‘’overflowing with sound”.
(d)The idea of nightingale being able to sing ‘welcome notes’ to weary bands of “travellers” also reflects the power of nature on man.
(e) It has a soothing effect on many unhappy encounters experienced by the poet in life.
Most of the candidates attempted this question but not as expected, the candidates never stressed the influence of nature (songs) to man in their responses.
